POCC Is dedicated to changing the experiences of people from ethnic-minority backgrounds in the UK. These communities have been a fundamental part of British history for centuries, however, this is often overlooked, ignored or distorted. The predominant narrative makes one story become the only story, which is what we see on our screens.

 

We created an AR filter that encouraged people of colour to speak up and share their (untold) stories, celebrating these individuals, which in turn educated the UK how these communities have been making Britain great for generations. The filter prompted users with thought starters ie “My relative inspired me because…”, giving the user a safe space to share.

 

The aim was to increase the volume of representation on social media, diversifying the British narrative and opening up a door to a whole new world and culture people in Britain didn’t know existed - ultimately changing perceptions in the UK.
